Assessment
Assessment at Little Tiger takes a variety of forms depending on children’s age.
Portfolio Work
In the Early Childhood Division, teachers monitor and document children’s development in relation to key milestones. These milestone observation charts, along with portfolios of student work, are a key component of our bi-annual parent-teacher conferences.
Elementary Assessment
In the Elementary grades, teachers use a combination of assessment modes, including formative and summative assessments. Examples include student portfolios, student projects, teacher observations, and standardized tests. Students are also introduced to rubrics, so they learn to be self-reflective about the learning process and the quality of their work.
Standardized Testing
Standardized tests are used to understand our students’ progress over time in Math, English, and Chinese. The results are a tool that helps the teaching team to reflect on strengths and areas for improvement.
Student Showcase & Presentation
Through project showcases, speech competitions, and essay contests, students have opportunities to share their work outside of school. Our students’ works have been recognized for their excellence by a variety of organizations including Asia Society and the American Academy of International Culture and Education (AAICE).
