Learning English
While Little Tiger is a full immersion school, Kinder and Elementary students also receive English Language Arts instruction from a dedicated English teacher. Students develop pre-reading and basic literacy skills before going on to develop higher-order comprehension and analytical skills.
In addition to English Language Arts, students also receive Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in English. In Elementary grades, the Social Studies curriculum is also taught in English.
In Pre-K classrooms, 100% of instruction is in Chinese. In Kindergarten, English Language Arts makes up approximately 10% of the academic curriculum. In Elementary, the percent of time devoted to English Language increases by approximately 5-10% each year.
